JERRY AMALDEV FOUNDATION

On 4th of July, 2010 SING, INDIA WITH JERRY AMALDEV, a group of 16 voices comprising of 8 sopranos, 2 altos, 3 tenors and 3 basses, hand-picked by Maestro Shri. Jerry Amaldev, came into existence. Since then the singers have been increasing in number reaching the present strength of 48. They continue to increase their numbers day by day.

On 6th of April, 2011 THE JERRY AMALDEV FOUNDATION, a long cherished dream, was registered and Sing, India with Jerry Amaldev now forms the Choral Wing of this Foundation.

The official launch of this Foundation and that of the Choral Group will happen only when the Maestro is convinced about the calibre of the performance of its members. It is his dream to have a world class choral group.

Trained in North Indian vocal music (Pune and Bombay), in Western classical music (Cornell University, New York) and in movie music (under Naushad in Bollywood), Jerry Amaldev is a unique exponent of Indian and Western Music.

He is now training SING, INDIA to render a variety of songs, such as the Western classical gems of Handel, Mozart, Rossini and Franck; popular hits of the Beatles, the Carpenters and Abba; hymns in Latin, Greek and Sanskrit; national and international folk songs and his own Malayalam hits.

This choral group practices tirelessly on Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m..and on Sundays from 2.15 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. at Meroland, I.S. Press Road, Cochin -682 018 , to attain the perfection that Jerry Sir has set for its debut performance by the end of the year.

Another Wing of The Jerry Amaldev Foundation is the AMALDEV ACADEMY OF MUSIC (AAM). Currently Vocal training classes are held on all Wednesdays by Mr. Binu. Future plans include conducting classes on Keyboard, Guitar and many other instrumentals and Music classes. It is also planned to impart training to aspiring music composers.

The Jerry Amaldev Foundation and Sing, India with Jerry Amaldev are founded on a vision fuelled by Cochinites who are passionate about music and eager to be part of a community that can learn to appreciate music of all genres.
